One more day in the 70s before 80s return

A weak upper-level low pressure area is keeping the Inland Northwest on the cool side of July for one more day today before a new warming trend starts. Highs today are likely to reach about 76 in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene under mostly sunny skies. The upper-level low pressure will be most evident in mountain areas near the Canadian border where clouds and possible showers are being forecast. The clouds were also gathered over the Spokane region this morning after daybreak. National Weather forecasters said the upper-level jet stream should flatten its trajectory over the Inland Northwest, relaxing the influence of low air pressure and bringing a drier and more seasonal flow through the end of the week. Highs will go to the 80s starting Thursday and creep into the middle and upper 80s on Saturday and Sunday with sunny skies through the period. Lows will remain in the middle to upper 50s. Some weak disturbances may move through the upper-level flow, bringing a chance of clouds at times. At 7 a.m., it was 53 at Spokane International Airport, 58 at Felts Field, 57 in Coeur d’Alene, 53 in Deer Park and 56 in Pullman.
