Chiefs move up in standings with win
PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – The Prince George Cougars got off to a quick start, but the Spokane Chiefs made sure it didn’t last en route to a 4-1 victory in Western Hockey League action Friday night.
It was Spokane’s third straight win on the road and the first time the Chiefs beat the last-place Cougars in three tries this season. Spokane moved past Vancouver into fourth place in the West.
The Cougars took a 1-0 lead at the 7:39 mark of the first period on a goal by Daulton Siwak.
The Chiefs (35-22-4-3, 77) tied the score 8:17 later on a goal by Marek Kalus, his 18th of the season.
Spokane took the lead for good in the second when Todd Fiddler scored at 10:53. It was Fiddler’s 12th goal. Darren Kramer’s 20th goal stretched the lead to 3-1 just 41 seconds later.
The Chiefs’ final goal came 44 seconds into the third by Dylan Walchuk – his seventh goal of the season. Mike Aviani finished with a pair of assists.
