Shadow choose Brown as coach

The Spokane Shadow announced the appointment of former player Chad Brown as the team’s head coach Wednesday.

The Central Valley High School product will be returning to his hometown to coach the Shadow in its debut season in the Evergreen Premier League.

Brown played for the Shadow when it was a provisional member of what is now the USL PDL and scored the first goal in team history.

Baseball

Caleb Wood’s second home run of the season gave Gonzaga an early 1-0 lead, but it was a rare bright spot for the Bulldogs (10-18) in a 14-5 loss to No. 19 Oregon at Patterson Baseball Complex.

Golf

Northern Arizona senior Kaitlen Parsons, a University High graduate, was named Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week after tying for fourth place at the Mountainview Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz.
