Four arrested at Pasco rally marking two-month anniversary of police shooting

By Tyler Richardson Tri-City Herald
Four people were arrested Saturday after refusing police orders to move from the street and onto the sidewalk during a rally and march in Pasco. The protest was held to mark the two-month anniversary of the shooting death of Antonio Zambrano-Montes on Feb. 10. He was shot multiple times after police say he threw at least one rock at three officers. Saturday’s arrests are the first that have been reported since the shooting. Police previously had chosen to monitor the group from afar rather than making contact with them during earlier protests but this time the group became a threat to public safety, said Pasco Police Chief Bob Metzger. He said the department fielded complaints during Friday’s “die in” about protestors blocking traffic. “We had no choice. They were blocking both lanes of traffic. They were upsetting public safety … at some point we have to put a stop to it,” said Metzger. Among those arrested was Eddie Enriquez, 39, who has been involved in protests since the shooting.
