In brief: Spokane Valley woman dies of injuries from crash on U.S. 395
A Spokane Valley woman has succumbed to injuries she received in an automobile accident April 6 along U.S. Highway 395 near Lind, Washington.
Eddylou Donovan, 64, was one of three people injured in the weather-related accident. She died Saturday at Hospice House.
Donovan was driving northbound when her 2011 Subaru Forester went into the median, then re-entered the highway and was struck by a pickup truck, the Washington State Patrol said.
The other driver, Steve A. Johnson, of Spokane, also was injured, as was a third motorist, Paul J. Olkowski, of Sonora, California, who stopped to help the victims and was struck by a car driven by Skylar M. Fredrickson, 19, of Post Falls, the WSP said.
Man apparently shot self, police say
A man who died from a gunshot wound in a car Saturday appears to have accidentally shot himself, Spokane police detectives said Sunday.
The shooting happened in the East Central Neighborhood on Saturday afternoon.
“Investigators believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no danger to the community,” police Cpl. Jordan Ferguson said in a news release.
Police recovered a handgun in the vehicle.
The identity of the victim and the cause of death will be released by the Spokane County medical examiner, Ferguson said.
The man was found in a car that stopped in a driving lane of Fifth Avenue east of Magnolia Street. An officer found the man unresponsive and discovered a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputy suspected of home violence
A Grant County sheriff’s deputy was arrested Sunday after an alleged domestic violence incident between him and his 18-year-old stepson.
Corey Linscott, 36, of Quincy, was taken into custody after Quincy police responded to a disturbance call in the 200 block of H Street Northeast. Initial reports that Linscott, who was not on duty, had barricaded himself inside the home proved false. Linscott returned to the home about two hours after officers arrived, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Linscott was arrested for investigation of fourth-degree assault/domestic violence in the alleged altercation with his stepson.
The investigation is being handled by the Quincy Police Department. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an internal investigation.
