Obituary: Lovitt, Shirley Dean (Shierk)
Age 83
She was born May 21, 1931 in Pipestone, Minnesota to Roma Lucas and James Shierk.
Shirley’s family moved frequently as she grew up, she graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1949.
She then attended and graduated from Sacred Heart School of Nursing before marrying her high school sweetheart, James Lovitt on September 11, 1953.
Shirley and Jim moved to Ephrata, WA where they raised three children.
She enjoyed gardening, painting, sewing , golf and volunteer work.
After the loss of Jim in 1981, she returned to work, working for the local hospital and then a home health care company.
After retirement, Shirley enjoyed volunteering at the local food bank as well as participating in MOPS through the Presbyterian Church.
She later returned to Coeur d’Alene to be closer to family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Jim, and her parents James and Roma.
She is survived by her three children: Shari Bly of Post Falls, Steve Lovitt of Seattle and Jon Lovitt of Hayden; her grandchildren: Jenni Lynn (Jesse), Kylie (AJ), Justin (Sarah), Dekker and Dalton as well as four great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her three siblings: Pat Barber, Ramona Shierk and Jim (Lillian) Shierk.
A Service and Celebration of Shirley’s Life will be held at a time to be determined at a later date.
Donations in her name can be made to The Village at Orchard Ridge (Coeur d’Alene Homes) at 624 W. Harrison Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID, or to any Humane Society.
