Obituary: Hunter, Lois Marjorie

HUNTER, Lois Marjorie (Lehn) Lois passed away peacefully on May 30, 2015, she was 94 years old.

Born November 30, 1920 in Reardan, Washington to Olaf and Laura Lehn, residents of Espanola, WA.

Lois is a direct descendant of Sivert and Undine Lehn, one of the first settlers of Tucker Prairie.

She attended Tucker Prairie Grade School and Edwall High School, graduating in 1936 at the age of 15 as Valedictorian.

During her high school years and a year after graduating, she studied the violin; but realized that she had no outstanding talent and not wanting to be a teacher, she attended business school.

While attending business school in Spokane she met her husband William (Bill).

They were married April 6, 1941 and remained married for 65 years; Bill passing in 2006.

Lois was a Girl Scout Leader for several years.

She and Bill also belonged to a square dance club for several years.

Their group did a performance on the Starlit Stairways Show, a local talent show in Spokane.

She was a member of Fertile Valley Grange, Pend Oreille Rock and Gem Club and the Quartzsite Arizona Roadrunners.

Her favorite hobbies were lapidary and quilting.

She made beautiful quilts - all hand quilted.

Her collection of cut stones, polished stones, faceted gems and silver fabricating was quite large!

She is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) Hunter of Elk, Wa., her son, David William Hunter of Elk, Wa.

and her sister Kathryn Eastman.

Surviving her are four children, Elinor Tennyson, Judi Huhta, Michael Hunter and Diane Boyd; grandchildren, Dr. Lori Chow, Cindy Grey, Tamara Allen, Stacie (Hunter)Jennen, Jammie Bernardino and numerous great-grandchildren.

Her ashes will be interred beside her husband at the Elk Cemetery #1, Elk, Washington.

There will be no services, per her request.
