White Swan 39, Colfax 37

Cayla Jones’ heroics helped White Swan rally from an early hole and hold off defending champion Colfax in the 2B quarterfinals.

Jones finished with 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Cougars.

After a tight first quarter, the Bulldogs burst ahead with a 10-0 run to open the second, and led 24-13 after Scout Cai’s 3-pointer.

Jones made a three-point play to cut the Colfax lead to 24-20 at the break, and another hoop and free throw gave WS their first lead at 25-24 in the the third. Later in the period, she added a third and-one, then stole the ball and drained a triple to stretch the lead to 35-31.

After a Cai jumper notted the scored at 35 with under two minutes to go, Jones sank four late free throws, and a Bulldogs’ turnover in the waning moments sealed a dramatic victory.

Okanogan 67, Napavine 40

Jill Townsend tallied 33 points and 10 rebounds, and Okanogan cruised past Napavine in the 2B quarterfinals.

The Bulldogs built a 21-7 lead in the first and led by double-digits the rest of the game.

Townsend led the efficient Bulldogs, as she shot 11 of 13 from the field and 10 of 12 from the free-throw line. As a team, Okanogan shot 64 percent from the field and 50 percent on 3-pointers. They outrebounded the Tigers 32-19.

Wahkiakum 68, Mabton 58

Peyton Souvenir and Sam Boyce led the way, as Wahkiakum downed Mabton in the 2B quarterfinals.

The first half featured a series of runs. Wahkiakum started on top 14-7, but the Vikings responded with an 18-4 burst.

The game remained tight into the fourth quarter before Boyce knocked in a 3-pointer to put the Mules ahead 57-53 with 5 minutes remaining. The Mules then pulled away late thanks to a pair of steals from Kaylee Bryant and some free-throw shooting. Souvenir made 8 of 10 from the free-throw line and Wahkiakum shot 20 of 36 as a team to just 7 for 12 for Mabton. The Mules also held a 41-30 rebounding edge.

LaConner 34, Toutle Lake 33

Adiya Jones-Smith tallied a team-high 14 points and 11 rebounds, and unbeaten LaConner survived against Toutle Lake.

The game was sluggish throughout, as LaConner shot 30 percent from the field while the Ducks made just 23 percent.

The Braves finally got a little separation, as Jones-Smith’s 3-pointer put them up 26-21 with 6 minutes left to play.

After Bailey Hockett twice made game-tying shots for Toutle Lake, Jones-Smith scored on an inside shot with 2:33 left. She then added four free throws down the stretch.

The Ducks had chances to win, but Samantha Woodley missed three free throws with 2 minutes left and Britzy Hockett missed what would have been a game-winning 3-pointer in the last second. Their 3-pointer at the buzzer was rendered insignificant.
