Obituary: Berg, Clifford Edwell “Cliff”

Age 54

BERG, Clifford Edwell “Cliff” (Age 54) Cliff passed away on February 28, 2015 at Hospice House of Spokane.

His courage in fighting ocular melanoma was an inspiration to all of us.

Cliff was a 27 year resident of Spokane, and lived the first 27 years of his life in Wilbur, WA.

He was born on June 19, 1960 at Coulee Dam Hospital, and graduated from Wilbur High School in 1978, followed by an AA degree from Spokane Community College in Heavy Equipment.

He is survived by his wife Jana; sons, Adam (Jessica) and Dane; grandchildren, Hayley, Addisen, and Ryker; parents, Sandra and Chuck Dyer; sister Charmaine, and brother Charlie (Lori).

Cliff and Jana would have celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in July.

Cliff worked for the last 13 years at Spokane County Risk Management Dept as a Loss Control Specialist.

Before that, he was the Safety Coordinator at Lincoln County for 16 years.

Cliff’s passion for training and safety have culminated in the County dedicating their training facility in Cliff’s name.

As an avid sports enthusiast, he competed in triathlons, running, canoe racing, and basketball.

Being an outdoor sportsman, Cliff has hunted for the last 30 years in the Blue Mts and around the Pacific Northwest.

He has passed on his love of elk and deer hunting to his two sons.

Cliff will be greatly missed by his family, elk hunting buddies, work colleagues, and hundreds of other friends, many of whom visited or corresponded with him in the last months of his life.

A Memorial Service will be held for Cliff at 1:00 p.m. on March 14, 2015 at the United Church of Christ in Cheney, WA, followed by a reception.

Cliff’s family wants to thank all the people of Hospice House for their wonderful care of Cliff.
