Spokane Valley family uninjured in house fire
A Spokane Valley home was gutted by fire Saturday, but a family of seven escaped with no injuries, the Spokane Valley Fire Department reported.
Firefighters were called to the 11900 block of East 30th Avenue about 7:15 p.m. Everyone was out of the home by the time crews arrived, a spokesman said.
Investigation indicated a child playing with matches may have sparked the fire, the spokesman said.
The fire started in a sofa on the back patio and quickly moved inside, the spokesman said. There was significant damage throughout the main floor.
The family of two adults and five children did not have renter’s insurance, but the homeowner was insured for the house.
