Police close death investigation of found man
Police have closed an investigation into the death of a man whose body was found on the floor of his living room surrounded by broken objects.
The Spokane County medical examiner ruled the death of Willie Richardson accidental on Feb. 6 and determined he died of a stroke, with hypothermia as a contributing factor.
An officer found Richardson, 64, dead at his home at 2009 W. College Ave. on Jan. 15, according to a search warrant filed shortly after. His son had last seen him on Dec. 14.
Richardson’s landlord became concerned and contacted police when Richardson did not pay his rent for January.
Due to decomposition, the warrant said, it was difficult to tell if Richardson had been injured.
