Obituary: Bowen, Charlotte Ann
Age 86
A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the St. John United Methodist Church.
A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
Private family graveside services will be held at the St. John Cemetery.
Charlotte was born on March 30, 1929 in Hagerstown, Maryland to Charles and Maude (Bailey) Pruett.
She grew up in Hagerstown and graduated from Hagerstown High School in 1948.
After high school she worked as a telephone operator for a time and, after her father passed away, she moved with her mother to Bluefield, West Virginia.
She met Willard E. Bowen in 1950 at the Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho Fourth of July Celebration and they married on December 5, 1953 in West Virginia.
Following their marriage, they lived and farmed near Revere for all of their lives until Willard retired in 1994.
They moved to Community Pride in St. John in 2009.
Charlotte was a very avid and passionate quilter, making as many quilts as time would allow.
She was a member of the Lamont Kitchen Cuties singing group, the Lamont Women’s Club and the Lamont Grange #889.
She loved to travel with friends and family, including a whole-family vacation back east and a trip around the country in a friend’s motorhome.
Charlotte is survived by her children Bill Bowen of Lamont; Barbara Ann (Jay) Aspevig of Cut Bank, Montana and Bob (Donna) Bowen of St. John; seven grandchildren, Katrina Emrich, Kevin Aspevig, Brenda Popelka, Brian Aspevig, Jeff Bowen, Kurt Bowen and Steven Bowen as well as three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Willard in 2011, her parents and one brother.
Memorial contributions in Charlotte’s honor are suggested to the St. John EMT’s or to a cause or club of your choice that works towards the betterment of the Lamont community.
