Prep roundup: Mt. Spokane girls soccer rallies past Ferris
Jaidyn Lyman snapped a 2-all tie with a goal at 65 minutes Wednesday to lift Mt. Spokane (9-1, 4-1) to a 3-2 victory over visiting Ferris (6-4, 4-1) in Greater Spokane League girls soccer.
KayDee Fischer gave Ferris a 2-1 lead with a goal at 30 minutes.
Peyton Malone’s second goal of the day for the Wildcats, at 50 minutes, tied the match. Ashley Sanders assisted on both of Malone’s goals.
Also in the league, Russell Larkin and Hannah Plank scored two goals apiece to lead Gonzaga Prep (7-2, 5-0) to a 5-1 win over host Shadle Park (3-8, 1-4) at Merkel Complex. G-Prep’s Tayler Drynan added one goal and two assists.
Sarah Manor had nine saves and North Central (2-6, 1-4) won a shootout 5-4 for a 2-1 victory over Lewis and Clark (4-6, 0-5) at Albi Stadium.
Katie Greene scored twice in the sixth minute to ignite Mead (9-1, 4-1) toward a 9-1 victory at Rogers (0-6, 0-6).
Central Valley (6-3, 3-2) posted a 1-0 shootout victory at University (6-4, 3-2). No details were reported.
Cross country
Cheney’s boys and girls swept host West Valley in a Great Northern League meet at Plantes Ferry Park. Individual winner Hannah Spakousky (21:06) led Cheney’s girls to a 20-40 victory. Cheney’s boys won 26-29 as WV’s Jacob Nicholson (17:01.2) held off the Blackhawks’ Drake Johnson (17:07).
Also in the GNL, Tim Pendry (18:02.2) and Elyria Kabesnche (21:24.8) won individual titles while leading host Pullman to team wins over Clarkston. For Pullman, Matt Winchell (18:10.3) was runner-up among boys and Maddy Walker had the same time as Kabesnche but lost on a lean.
