Shackleford brings along his defensive coordinator
Spokane head coach Adam Shackleford is bringing Ameer Ismail, his defensive coordinator at Tri-Cities, to the Shock in the same capacity.
Ismail, who will also be Spokane’s strength and conditioning coach, helped the Fever rank third in the Indoor Football League in total defense (213.6 yards per game) last season. Ismail was the defensive coordinator for IFL Cedar Rapids in 2014 when the Titans finished 11-3.
Ismail played three seasons for Shackleford at Tri-Cities before joining the Bloomington Edge in 2012 and the Chicago Slaughter in 2013. He was the IFL defensive player of the year in 2012. He’s currently a defensive assistant coach and assistant strength and conditioning coach at Western Michigan University, his alma mater.
