Fresh Sheet: Hierophant Meadery wins two medals at international competition

Hierophant Meadery won two medals in the Mazer Cup International Commercial Mead Competition.

Its Hawthorn Tulsi Mead won first place in the specialty-dry category. And its Hopped Mead won second place in the metheglin-dry category.

The contest, the largest commercial mead competition in the world, took place in mid-March in Colorado. On the Web: mazercup.com.

Haru Matsuri

The 26th annual Haru Matsuri Japanese Spring Food Festival is Sunday at Spokane Buddhist Temple.

Look for chicken teriyaki, tofu bento boxes, pot stickers, sushi and more from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the temple, 927 S. Perry St.

Wine dinner

Clover and Arbor Crest Wine Cellars are teaming up to host a wine dinner Tuesday night.

Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and costs $95.

Wines include chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc, malbec and more. Courses includes pork cheek carnitas, ahi carpaccio, cedar-planked quail and chili-maple glazed and smoked duck leg.
