Fresh Sheet: Pour on the fun

A new Maryhill Winery tasting room is slated to open in Kendall Yards this fall. It will encompass 5,000 square feet and offer a 180-degree view of the Spokane River and downtown Spokane.

Spokane natives Craig and Vicki Leuthold founded the winery in 1999 on a bluff overlooking the Columbia River Gorge. Maryhill opened two years later. It’s since become one of the most visited wineries in the state, drawing more than 75,000 wine lovers each year. It’s also one of the largest, producing some 80,000 cases annually.

Maryhill makes more than 50 wines. Its Goldendale facility includes a 3,000-square-foot tasting room and 4,000-seat amphitheater. The award-winning winery was named the 2015 Pacific Northwest Winery of the Year by Wine Press Northwest and the 2014 Winery of the Year at the San Francisco International Wine Competition.
