Indaba preps for September opening of downtown cafe

Indaba Coffee Roasters is slated to open another downtown location in early September.

The newest location, set to officially open Sept. 4, will feature Indaba’s signature espresso drinks as well as more food options than its other stores, which typically offer a selection of pastries.

Noshes at the new spot include an array of toasts – lentil hummus toast, toast with house-made peanut butter and jam or bacon, house-made black salt-butterscotch toast – and vegan and gluten-free options. Or, “lots of fun stuff,” owner Bobby Enslow said.

This marks the sixth location – and the third spot downtown – for Indaba, which recently opened a Sky Bar coffee kiosk in downtown Spokane. That coffee stand opened in late June on the second floor of the Bennett Block building almost directly above Indaba’s high-end espresso bar at 210 N. Howard St.

Earlier this year, Indaba also opened two locations in Kendall Yards: one inside the Fleet Feet athletic shoe store, and another inside a shared space with Hello Sugar, a mini-doughnut shop.

The original Indaba location is in Spokane’s West Central neighborhood. It opened in 2009 at 1425 W. Broadway Ave.

The newest Indaba location, more cafe-like than its other coffee shops, is at 518 W. Riverside Ave. next door to Dodson’s Jewelers.
