Emerson-Garfield Farmers Market opens Friday

The first Emerson-Garfield Farmers Market of the season is Friday.

Road construction will impact the way shoppers access the market this season. North Monroe Street is in the middle of a $7.1 million renovation that’s slated to continue through October. Access to the market, in its sixth season, will remain limited through the duration of the project.

To get there, use either Wall and Post streets, then turn west on either Carlisle or Montgomery avenues. For more help, an up-to-date interactive access map can be found at www.monroeproject.com.

Once work is done, lanes will be reduced from five to three, and there will be wider sidewalks, more trees and benches, and more visible crosswalks.

Meantime, the Emerson-Garfield Farmers Market will serve as a hub for several of the new #MeetOnMonroe events, such as the North Monroe Business District market “takeover” on July 13.

The market runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Fridays at 2310 N. Monroe St.
