College cross country: Whitworth women win Pacific Lutheran Invitational
TACOMA – Marissa Mount’s fifth-place finish Saturday guided the Whitworth women’s cross country team to the team title at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational.
Mount completed the 6,000-meter course in 23 minutes, 20.76 seconds. Also for the Pirates, Krystal Roberts placed seventh in 23:27.68 and Ellie Shoop was eighth in 23:28.87.
The Pirates scored 51 points to hold off Whitman (56) in the 10-team field.
Whitworth’s men (88 points) placed fourth, 31 points behind champion George Fox. William Glick (26:27.65 for 8,000 meters) placed 11th and Aidan Smith (26:28.66) was 12th for the Pirates.
The race was the first on the Lutes’ campus in three years.
