Spokane Symphony Classics 1: The Bohemian Spirit
Sept. 8-9. Featuring Eckart Preu, conductor, and Charlie Albright, piano. Smetana’s ode to the Moldau River and Dvorvák’s ‘tragic’ Seventh Symphony express the longing for Czech independence. Washington State native Charlie Albright performs Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto, an intricate work of triumph, beauty, and lightheartedness written in the face of personal tragedy. Program includes works by Smetana, Beethoven and Dvorak. Showtime is Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
