Spokane Symphony Classics 3: The Heroic

Oct. 20-21. Featuring Eckart Preu, conductor, and Alon Goldstein, piano. Beethoven’s technically challenging Third Symphony, “Eroica,” is regarded as a turning point in musical history, forcing contemporaries to experience a symphony as more than entertainment. Pianist Alon Goldstein returns to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21, one of his greatest and most melodic concertos. Program includes music from Elkington, Mozart and Beethoven. Showtime is Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
