Museum Bash - Honoring the Last Mt. Vesuvius Eruption
March 14, 2020 - March 14, 2020
On March 17, 1944, St. Patrick’s Day, the most recent eruption of Italy’s Mount Vesuvius began. 1944 was also the year allied forces invaded Italy, leading to the U.S. Airforce taking control of evacuating residents during the volcano’s eruption. Join in remembering this event in world history and to celebrate the year 1944. Event includes live hot jazz and swing music with Spokane’s “Zonky Jazz Band” and dancing. Other event highlights include: visiting the museum’s exhibits “Pompeii: The Immortal City,” and “Mt. St. Helen’s: Critical Memory 40 Years Later,” participate in a best dressed 1940s era man and woman costume contest and take a selfie at the selfie station. Food and beverage options will be available for purchase (including adult and non-alcoholic).
