It was the perfect storybook script for Spokane Velocity FC on Saturday at ONE Spokane Stadium, as many firsts were written in its short history book.

Home game No. 1 for the Spokane Velocity means a homecoming for an Eastern Washington-born player.

The Spokane Velocity’s season opener – and first game in franchise history – ended with a loss.

As the Spokane Velocity get set to kick off the club’s inaugural season, head coach Leigh Veidman is stressing patience while the expansion team develops an identity and solidifies its roster.

“I think everybody wanted Luis in the league to be honest,” Velocity FC head coach Leigh Veidman said. “He fit the profile I was looking for.”

The Spokane Velocity’s roster is beginning to take shape as its inaugural season draws closer.

Spokane Zephyr FC and the USL Super League have spoken at length about opportunity and how necessary it is to help develop professional women’s soccer throughout the United States.

The firsts keep on flooding in for the expansion franchise Spokane Velocity FC.
