I got played today re: bogus NRA news release. Jim Kinney of MASSLive reports: "Hackers distributed a fake news release Wednesday saying Springfield-based gunmaker Smith & Wesson was working with the NRA to 'get guns into the hands of statistically under-armed Americans' through a 'buy one, give one' program called 'Share the Safety.'

Hells Canyon boaters may face fee

Boaters who enter the wild and scenic section of the Snake River in Hells Canyon may soon have to pay a user fee, according to a proposal from the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. The agency is floating a $5 to $10 fee that would be used to bolster agency budgets for maintenance of recreation and historic sites in the canyon.

Concealed carry speech attracts crowd

A packed house welcomed Priest River police chief Drew McLain June 16 to hear him explain the ins and outs of Idaho’s newly revised concealed carry permit law, Senate Bill 1389. It takes effect July 1. The Priest River branch of the West Bonner County Library District hosted McLain as part of its Live and Learn series.

EPA to re-evaluate Idaho arsenic regs

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is retracting its approval of Idaho's water quality standards for arsenic under a settlement agreement with a Portland, Oregon-based environmental group. Northwest Environmental Advocates filed the lawsuit last year challenging the EPA's approval of Idaho's arsenic standards.

Transgender policy splits school district district

The Blaine County School Board could vote on a transgender student policy on July 12, after hearing divided testimony on the proposal Tuesday night. The Idaho Mountain Express has full coverage from Tuesday’s trustee meeting. Ten speakers urged the board to adopt the policy. Others urged the board to reject or table the policy.

Mrs. O enjoys browsing garage sales. So when she saw one on 12th Street near our home she pulled over. And bought something. As she was paying the homeowner for her item, the woman handed her a toy soldier from a basket full of toy soldiers -- you know, one of those green figures about 2 1/2 inches tall, with its own platform.

Friends rally for Rathdrum family

Friends of a Rathdrum family involved in a fatal head-on collision in Oregon on Sunday night are rallying support. Donald Adams, 45, was in critical condition at a Bend hospital on Tuesday and his wife Barbara, 30, was in good condition. Their 10YO daughter, Amber, died at the scene, while their 8YO son, Marshall, was treated for minor injuries.
