Nary a glitch in the Ferris football team’s giddy-up Friday. The third-ranked Saxons scored four touchdowns in the first quarter – the final one coming on the period’s last play – and they cruised to a 48-3 victory over the Wenatchee Panthers in a 4A play-in game at Albi Stadium.

The Mt. Spokane football team’s defense made a cameo appearance here and there, and the Wildcats’ offense wasn’t on the field much for that matter. When Mt. Spokane’s offense was on the Albi Stadium turf, though, it was efficient and destructive as the Wildcats sprinted past the Kennewick Lions 62-35 in a 3A play-in Friday.

Mt. Spokane’s offense was efficient and destructive as the Wildcats sprinted past the Kennewick Lions 62-35 in a 3A play-in Friday. University defeated Eastmont 21-6. The two GSL teams will meet in the first round of the State 3A playoffs next weekend.

Three is the operative number for Greater Spokane League volleyball and girls soccer teams this weekend when state berths are on the line at Eastern Regional tournaments. There are three state berths in the 4A and 3A volleyball tournaments and three state berths available at the 4A girls soccer tourneys.
