They’re teaching Adversity 101 at Gonzaga Prep this fall. And it appears it’s become a college-level class. One of the first Bullpups to sign up for the class was senior quarterback Shane Schmidlkofer. Prep Notebook: Wildcats look for rebound

Mt. Spokane football coach Mike McLaughlin had just shaken hands with the Ferris coaches when he headed toward the ramp leading to the west locker room at Albi Stadium. It’s as if McLaughlin was already considering how his team would use the 35-14 loss to prepare for the State 3A playoffs.

Spokane for a 35-14 win in a battle of football unbeatens before 3,773 at Albi Stadium on Friday night. Chase Naccarato returned the opening kick of the second half 94 yards to set up Mt. Spokane’s tying touchdown. But it was all Saxons thereafter.

‘Grady Bunch’ a great bunch

They call themselves the Grady Bunch. The Ferris football team’s secondary of seniors Riley Stockton, Cody Sorensen, Beau Bozett and Jordan Tonani came up with the nickname for themselves as a tribute to Grady Emmerson, the Saxons’ defensive coordinator.

Tonani terrific

No, Jordan Tonani didn’t carry the water out during timeouts. It just looked like the Ferris senior wide receiver/defensive back was everywhere Friday.
