Walk-on QB Adam Schulz to start for Utes vs. WSU

PULLMAN – As a walk-on quarterback lightly recruited out of high school, Adam Schulz didn’t exactly stand out when he first stepped onto Utah’s campus. Now a redshirt sophomore, Schulz said he still lives a life of relative anonymity. It may be hard to remain inconspicuous for long, because Shulz was named the Utes’ starting quarterback following news of Travis Wilson’s playing career being in jeopardy after the discovery of a pre-existing head condition.

Pac-12 Conference power rankings

Order has been restored in the Pac-12 football universe. We know, change was scary, but Oregon is back on top after a one-week hiatus. Stanford found out just how difficult it is to dominate a deep conference, falling on the road to Ed Orgeron’s upstart Trojans. We’ll have another potential shakeup this week when Arizona State travels to Pasadena to face UCLA in a game that could very well determine the Pac-12 South champ. 1 Oregon (9-1, 6-1 in Pac-12; last week: 2) Oregon probably won’t play for the national title but the Ducks are still the fastest, and best in the West.

Pac-12 notebook: Smell of Rose in the air for ASU, UCLA

PULLMAN – For much of the college football season it appeared that the matchup between Oregon and Stanford on Nov. 7 was going to be the game of the year in the Pac-12. And while Stanford’s 26-20 upset of the Ducks in the matchup between BCS contenders certainly had no shortage of fireworks, this weekend’s affair between Arizona State and UCLA in Pasadena is just as important. The game between the two Pac-12 North powers will likely keep the Ducks out of the national title hunt, but have very little effect on the standings otherwise. Because Stanford lost to Utah and USC, the Cardinal still trail Oregon in the division standings.

Time for WSU seniors to be heard

PULLMAN – The seniors on the Washington State football team have endured a lot in their less than idyllic college careers. They’ve been through seasons of two, three and four wins, a coaching change and some of the worst losses in school history. The combined record of WSU’s 20 seniors over their four years is 14-32.

Time for WSU seniors to leave their mark

Elliott Bosch and his fellow seniors on the Washington State football team have endured a lot in their less than idyllic college careers. Yet, one more win and they will be going to a bowl game.
