LAS VEGAS – It has been six years since Washington State won a Pac-12 men’s basketball tournament game and about that long since the Cougars entered the tournament trending upward.

PULLMAN – The Pac-12 men’s basketball coaches voted Washington State senior guard DaVonte Lacy first-team All-Conference and named Josh Hawkinson’s the conference’s Most Improved Player, it was announced on Monday. Hawkinson was not named to the 10-member first-team or five-member second team, despite being the only Pac-12 player to average a double-double with 14.7 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Instead, the sophomore received honorable mention

The Pac-12 announced its All-Conference teams and awards on Monday morning and two Washington State players were recognized.

Today the Pac-12 conference will announce its individual awards and All-Conference teams for men's basketball.

The clocks may spring forward today but we turn back to Washington State's win over Colorado.

PULLMAN – In the days leading up to Washington State’s last regular-season home game, coach Ernie Kent insisted that the so-called Senior Day is not about the players that leave a program but those who replace them. The guard is changed and the torch is passed, claimed Kent, by younger players assuming the leadership mantle and ensuring that the seniors win their last game in their own arena.

PULLMAN – First-year Washington State coach Ernie Kent spoke of “the process” after taking the WSU job last spring, suggesting a couple years spent taking lumps were likely before the Cougars became a postseason-caliber team. Sort of like the six- and 15-win seasons Utah suffered through under Larry Krystkowiak before ascending to legitimate title contender.
