Spokane businesswoman, Native American advocate receives state recognition

JoAnn Kauffman, a prominent Nez Perce Tribe member and national Native American rights activist, was recently selected to be featured in the Secretary of State’s Legacy Washington project. The “Who are we?” program highlights a group of Washingtonians with stories about their lives and an interactive exhibit in the state’s capital. Two rabid bats identified in Spokane County

A woman is currently undergoing rabies vaccinations and a cat is quarantined in its owner’s home after a pair of rabid bats were discovered in Spokane County. These are the first reported cases of rabies exposure in the county this year.
