Woman pulled from burning car recounts experience, heroic actions by Spokane police officer

Kimberly Novak’s night began with a trip to get ice cream. It ended with her being dragged out through the window of her burning car by a newfound friend. Friday night was a night like any other, and Novak was in the mood for a treat. On her way home from shopping, she stopped at her local Rosauers at about 10 p.m., then made her way through the winding neighborhood streets toward her house on Montevista Place on the North Hill.

Thousands more than expected join Women’s March in Spokane

An estimated 8,000 women, men and children turned out for the Spokane/North Idaho Women’s March on Saturday at the Spokane Convention Center. Police postponed the start of the event to bring in more officers. Police said the crowds were cooperative and there were no issues.

Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos’ scheduled speech at Washington State University-Pullman tonight has been canceled, the WSU College Republicans announced on their Facebook page. The club said the cancellation is due to the continued closure of Interstate 90 and “unsafe conditions on all highways leading to Pullman.”

Rising temperatures could cause flooding next week

Plows dug deeper into residential areas on Thursday with Browne’s Addition getting a visit from crews. An order to move vehicles off streets during plowing in Browne’s Addition resulted in towing those who didn’t comply.
