The most important bicycle race outside Europe, the $200,000 Tour DuPont begins tonight featuring 84 professional and 28 amateur riders.

Two will be strong favorites, 29-year-old Vyacheslav Yekimov of Russia, last year’s winner and 23-year-old Lance Armstrong of Austin, Texas, the 1993 world champion and two-year Tour DuPont runner-up.
