Braves Halt Marlins’ Streak
National League
Victories in their last at-bat are becoming almost routine for the Atlanta Braves. The Florida Marlins were the latest victims.
This time the big blow was a two-run home run by David Justice in the eighth inning that gave the Braves a 4-3 victory over Florida on Monday night and ended the Marlins’ winning streak at six games.
The win was Atlanta’s 21st in its last at-bat and 14th since July 4.
“There’s nothing ho-hum about this,” said Atlanta manager Bobby Cox. “You’d rather have them wrapped up early, but without good pitching, we don’t come back.”
