U.S. Swimmers Dominate
Lisa Jacob won her second gold medal as Americans dominated the swimming with four victories, but Japan stayed atop the World University Games gold medal standings.
Jacob and Sarah Anderson, both members of the winning U.S. 4x200-meter women’s freestyle relay, placed 1-2. Jacob won in 2 minutes, 2.03 seconds, with Anderson second in 2:03.22.
In the men’s 4x200 freestyle relay, the Americans cut 2.5 seconds off the games mark of 7:20.34 set by another U.S. quartet in 1985. They won in 7:17.83, with France second in 7:30.66 and Japan third in 7:31.02.
