Inel Information Hits The Airwaves

Compiled From Wire Services

People passing through the barren desert at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory now have something to listen to.

The Environmental Science and Research Foundation has begun broadcasting short informational messages about INEL. The foundation conducts ecological research, environmental surveillance and education programs.

Travelers can tune into the broadcasts at 530 AM as they pass the junction of U.S. Highways 20 and 26 in the south-central portion of INEL. More than 800,000 vehicles travel that road yearly. The information can be heard for about three miles each direction.

The station’s three-minute messages contain information about the environment, natural history and the cultural history of INEL.
