Central Valley Powers Past University, 53-37

GSL girls

Central Valley used its balance and defense to defeat University 53-37 Friday night in a Greater Spokane League girls game at U-Hi.

Crystal Lee, who had been averaging a league-high 25 points per game, got into early foul trouble and scored just 14 points to lead CV.

The Bears (2-0, 5-0) responded by tightening their defense and forcing the Titans (0-2, 1-3) into 25 turnovers.

U-Hi’s Julie Hinckley and Syd Perno each picked up three fouls in the first half, taking away the Titans’ height advantage.

Perno still managed to grab 10 rebounds before fouling out with 13 points.

Central Valley ran its record to 15-3 against its Valley rival in the 1990s.
