Kirksey Shows The Way For Loyola

Guard Robin Kirksey scored a season-high 22 points as he helped Loyola Marymount defeat St. Mary’s 72-68 on Friday night at Moraga, Calif.

The Lions (1-0, 9-4) went on a 22-8 run in 11 minutes to take their first lead, 58-57, with the help of Cobi McElroy’s three pointer with 6:05 remaining. Kirksey, who averages nine points a game, scored 14 during the Lions’ run.

With Loyola leading 67-66, Kirksey followed his own missed one-for-one free throw with a layup to make the score 69-66 with 46 seconds remaining. The Gaels (0-2, 5-7) couldn’t recover.
