Charities Help Propel Post Falls

Ten players scored and host Post Falls (11-2) made 14 of 17 free throws Tuesday in a non-league boys basketball win over East Valley (0-13).

Post Falls led by four points with 2 minutes left in the first half, but EV turnovers led to a 12-point halftime bulge. The Trojans had a 28-12 rebounding edge and held EV to 38-percent shooting from the field. EV’s Aaron Wilkinson had 10 points and four steals.

Jared Troust and Kyle York scored 14 points apiece as the visiting Spartans (5-6) held off the Miners (6-6).

Priest River led by 12 points in the third quarter, but Wallace pulled within three in the final quarter. Wallace’s Ryan Nipp had 24 points and five rebounds.

At Post Falls, Josh Erk had 15 of his 27 points in the third quarter and added 12 steals as the Eagles (7-7) defeated the visitors from Moscow.

Jared Horton went 10 of 12 from the floor for the Eagles, scoring 24 points and taking 14 rebounds. Adrian Cushman was 9 of 12 and Tyson Allen 7 of 8 from the field for the winners. Nathan Wilson scored 29 and Ryan Hoover 22 for Logos.

At Plummer, Jeremy Lizotte scored 25 and sent the game into overtime with a basket in the final 2 seconds as the visiting Wampus Cats (3-0, 7-5) beat the Knights (1-2, 5-5) to maintain the league lead.

Lizotte scored eight points in the third quarter and five in OT. Clark Fork held the Knights to 14-percent shooting in the extra period.

Lakeside lost starters Glen Lamberg and Brendon Nelson in OT. Nelson had 15 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocked shots.

Greg Belzer’s rebound and putback with 2 seconds remaining lifted the host Cougars (7-4) over the Blackhawks (2-10).

Cheney led by eight points halfway through the final quarter. Greg Rainer’s basket with 40 seconds left gave Chewelah a 62-60 lead. Cheney tied the game with 23 seconds left on two free throws by Sam Holmes.

Chewelah’s Jeremy Landram had 14 of his 20 points in the first half, and finished with nine assists and six steals. Rich DeMulling of Cheney scored 21.

Walden was 11 of 19 from the floor and teammate Nate Carrara had 17 points and 12 rebounds. Chris Randles was 7 of 7 from the line during Newport’s 25-point fourth quarter. Riverside trails idle Freeman (7-2) by one-half game.
