Networks Cutting Back On O.J. Trial Coverage

Someone up there must like us viewers. The networks, which collectively embarrassed themselves by overcovering the O.J. Simpson pretrial shenanigans all summer and fall, have decided not to punish America anymore.

NBC, CBS and ABC have unveiled decidedly modest and reasonable coverage plans for the trial when it gets under way today.

The watchwords: updates throughout the day and live coverage as warranted.

This sounds to us like Peter, Dan/ Connie and Tom will be sticking to their night jobs for the time being.

Oh, yes, of course everyone will provide wall-to-wall live coverage of opening statements.

Local journalism is essential.
