Tiny ‘Power Rangers’ Can Be Handful

The Downtown Child Development Center has requested that children not be allowed to wear clothing or bring toys, books or other items depicting super heroes to the center.

“Unless you have spent 11 hours with a group of young children who believe they are Power Rangers, you have yet to experience aggression at its full-blown finest,” said Cathy Stout, Administrative Director of the center, in a letter to parents.

The center’s directors do not advocate banning super hero paraphernalia, but in their experience “Power Rangers, Batman, Spiderman, G.I. Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc. do not belong at school.”

“After Christmas it was very apparent which children had received Power Ranger toys. Those kids were doing kick-spins, hitting each other and using verbiage from the show,” Director Cindy Esposito said.

She said young children have trouble understanding super heroes are not real.

And when children pretend they are these avenging heroes, they often do not realize they could injure others.
