Opening Postponed Of Catholic School
Organizers of the proposed Holy Family Catholic School have postponed the school’s opening until the fall of 1996.
The school board chairman Tim Burns cited a shortage of money and the complexity of planning the school as reasons.
The board was hoping to raise $350,000 by May 31, but only raised $75,000 through donations, its raffle and other fund-raising projects.
The school is trying to sell 7,000 tickets to raffle off a 1963 Corvette, a 1993 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, an ocean cruise and other prizes. So far, only 800 of the $50 tickets have been sold.
