Pregnant Runner Returns For 24-Hour Marathon
Sue Olsen, the pregnant Burnsville runner whose marathon finish last week received worldwide attention, plans to be at the starting line today for the beginning of the FANS (Family Advocate Network System) 24-hour run at Lake Harriet.
“I’ll just go by how I feel,” Olsen said Thursday. “I went (to her doctor Wednesday) and she said she doesn’t think the baby’s coming this weekend. I’ll run some and do a lot of walking. It’ll depend on the heat and how I feel. I don’t want to come out of it too tired in case I decide to have the baby right after.”
Olsen, 38, finished Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth last Saturday in 4 hours, 50 seconds - just 16 days before the July 3 due date for the birth of her first child.
News of Olsen’s accomplishment made newspapers and broadcast outlets throughout the world.
