Tri-City Shuts Out Visiting Spokane, 3-0

Goalie David Trofimenkoff earned his second straight shutout as the Tri-City Americans blanked the visiting Spokane Chiefs 3-0 Tuesday night.

The Americans struck for two of their goals in the opening period.

Ryan Brown was left alone in the slot and converted a pass from Craig Stahl 11:34 into the first half.

Five minutes later, Daymond Langkow’s snap shot from the left circle beat Chiefs goalie Jarrod Daniel on his glove side.

Spokane held off Tri-City in the second period before allowing its final goal in the third, when Mike Hurley put in a rebound of Alexandre Boikov’s shot at 12:32.

With the loss, the Chiefs finished the month of February with a 7-4-1 record.

The Americans are 9-4 against Spokane this season, 5-2 at home.

Trofimenkoff moved his record to 3-0-1 against Spokane this year. On Sunday he shut out Lethbridge 1-0.

The Chiefs play at Kamloops Friday, at Portland Sunday and then return home to play Tacoma next Wednesday.
