Council To Consider Drilling Water Well

From Staff And Wire Reports

The City Council will consider drilling a test well in the Honeysuckle Avenue area before sinking money into a production drinking water well.

The well question is on the agenda for this evening’s regular council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

The permanent well will cost $60,000 to drill. A test well will cost an estimated $30,000.

The proposed site is near the edge of the Spokane-Rathdrum Aquifer, but the risk of a dry hole is low, city staffers say.

The council also will:

Consider setting the hours for the skateboard park from 8 a.m. to sunset.

Call for bids for downtown parking enforcement.

Consider a beer and wine license for a Holiday Station Store, a gasoline station planned for Haycraft Avenue and U.S. Highway 95.
