Crapo To Chair Bpa Task Force
Republican Congressman Michael Crapo of Idaho has been chosen as chairman of a newly formed congressional task force to review the Bonneville Power Administration and its related financial and environmental concerns.
Created by Rep. Dan Schaefer, R-Colo., chairman of the Commerce subcommittee on power and energy, the task force will hold its first session Nov. 18 in Boise.
Crapo, in a statement issued by his office on Thursday, said the panel is charged with analyzing problems surrounding BPA and anadromous fish recovery in the Pacific Northwest and recommend solutions.
“The impact of energy deregulation, stranded debt, the Endangered Species Act and other developments in the Columbia River System have put the BPA in a precarious financial situation,” Crapo said.
