Utah Man Held In Car Theft

From Staff And Wire Reports

A multiagency task force arrested a Utah man Tuesday near Pinehurst, Idaho, for car theft.

Patrick J. Hayslip, 34, was found driving a 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit that had been reported missing in American Falls, Utah, on Nov. 22.

Authorities in Sandy, Utah, contacted Shoshone County officials after Hayslip and the stolen car were allegedly involved in a hit-and-run injury accident there.

“They did some good footwork. They thought Hayslip had a previous address up here, and we verified it,” said Pinehurst Police Chief Brad Kitchen.

Hayslip was intoxicated when the task force found him driving down the road in the Pinecreek area, authorities said. He was arrested without difficulty and booked for possessing a stolen vehicle and driving under the influence.

Warrants will be forthcoming from Utah, Kitchen said.
