Gay Club Invites Others To ‘Come Out’
The Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Alliance, a club at North Idaho College, will hold its first public event on National Coming Out Day.
On Wednesday, members of the club will erect a door on the soccer field in the middle of campus and invite people to step through it in a symbolic “coming out” gesture.
“It’s mainly to let people know that we’re out there,” said club member Kiley Kiebert.
National Coming Out Day is sponsored by Human Rights Campaign Fund, a national organization that promotes rights for homosexuals and bisexuals.
The club will have the door open from noon to 1 p.m. Both students and non-students are invited to “come out of the closet” on campus.
