Dollar Shows Little Movement
The dollar fell slightly against leading currencies Monday when the German mark rallied, but trading was muted by investors waiting for Wednesday’s release of U.S. trade figures.
The mark strengthened in Europe after France cut a short-term lending rate and worries about French political troubles continued. While the mark’s strength and profit taking knocked the dollar down, the greenback spent the latter part of the U.S. trading day recovering some of its losses.
But with Wednesday’s trade numbers looming, currency dealers weren’t about to push the dollar decisively.
