Morrison Charged With Assault

Compiled From Wire Services

Heavyweight boxer Tommy Morrison, accused of punching Tammy Wiit, the mother of his 5-year-old son, in the face and biting another woman’s finger, was charged with assault.

Prosecutors filed two counts of misdemeanor assault and battery. No warrant was issued, but Morrison is scheduled to appear Thursday in Delaware County District Court, the district attorney’s office said.

The incident allegedly happened Oct. 15 near Jay, Okla. where Morrison grew up and is building a ranch.

Unable to find enough receipts for an insurance claim, a former accountant for Don King testified the promoter told him to designate $350,000 of an advance paid to a boxer as training expenses for a fight between Julio Cesar Chavez and Harold Brazier.

The second day of testimony by Joseph Maffia before a federal jury in Manhattan concerned the heart of the government’s case that Don King faked a contract in 1991 with Lloyd’s of London after the Chavez-Brazier fight was cancelled.
