Green Back In Jail After Bail Upped

Former Idaho basketball player Jevon Green is back in a Moscow, Idaho, jail after a judge increased his bail to $25,000.

Green wasn’t prepared to go to court for an evidentiary hearing on Wednesday, according to his probation officer, and his case was continued to Sept. 18. The prosecutor moved to revoke Green’s bond and the judge bumped the bail to $25,000.

Green is accused of numerous violations of his probation conditions. He had been out of jail on $5,000 bond.

Green was a top recruit of the Vandals who played sparingly last year before encountering legal problems. Green did receive the judge’s permission to attend school at Idaho during the day.

Sports Cellar 7th at nationals

Sports Cellar, champions of the men’s Class B slowpitch league at Quad Park in Post Falls, placed seventh at the Amateur Softball Association B national playoffs in Auburn, Wash., last weekend.

The tournament also served as the Idaho state B championship and Sports Cellar shared the title with a Boise team.

Other area teams and their tourney marks: Priest Lake Polaris (2-2), Pyramid Car Stereo (1-2), WTB/CdA RV Resort (0-2), Ichabods (0-2).

Sports Cellar and WTB, which received an at-large berth, are scheduled to play in the B national tournament later this month in Shreveport, La.

Quad Park’s Regina 5-0 will play at the ASA men’s 50-and-over national tournament tonight through Sunday in Portland.

Pub 41 captured the Pub 41’s Last HOORAH men’s C Tournament at Quad Park last weekend. Pub 41 won five straight games on Sunday. Pub 41’s Paul Duran was named most valuable player.

Volleyball

St. Maries opened the Intermountain League volleyball season with a 15-0, 15-3 victory over host Priest River.

After committing 17 service errors in their first match, St. Maries was perfect against the Spartans.

Amanda Tams and Bridgette O’Dwyer had five kills each and Amy Reed served 15 of St. Maries’ 16 service points.

Kellogg defeated Bonners Ferry 15-10, 15-13 in another IML match.

Lakeland defeated visiting Coeur d’Alene 15-9, 15-12, as Jenny Bork had five service aces and 10 digs. Amber Jamison had seven kills, Cora Christensen six and Cassie Byer added 16 assists.

In other non-leaguers, Wallace beat Clark Fork 15-11, 15-9, Potlatch defeated Lakeside 15-9, 15-11 and Kootenai topped St. Maries C squad, 15-12, 1513, 15-4.

Soccer

Coeur d’Alene High’s season-opening soccer match with Moscow on Thursday has been moved back to Saturday, Sept. 16, due to a scheduling conflict.
