New Faces:
Richard Fisher has joined Sterling Savings Association as a private banking loan officer. Fisher previously was with Bank of Whitman for six years, most recently as assistant vice president. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Washington State University.
Chris Copstead has joined the Spectrum Co. in Coeur d’Alene as a promotional advertising specialist. Copstead has more than 30 years of experience in sales and formally was the president and CEO of the Inkwell Inc.
Andrew Barrett has joined the sales staff at F.O. Berg Co. where he will specialize in awnings and industrial production. Barrett previously held a similar position with Rainer Industries in Seattle. He received an MBA from Seattle University.
Gale Anderson has joined Evergreen Physical Therapy. Anderson, who received a master’s degree in physical therapy from Pacific University, previously worked for St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has named Nick Moramarco chief of resource management of its Walla Walla District. His duties will include serving as the district’s chief financial officer, resource management officer and as the primary financial advisor to the district commander. Moramarco worked for the Walla Walla District from 1979-1984 and returned in 1987 to serve as a finance and accounting officer.
Thomas “Les” Purce has joined Washington State University as vice president for extended university affairs. Purce, executive vice president of Evergreen State College, served as Evergreen’s interim president from 1990-92. Purce received a doctor of education degree from Idaho State University and began his career as a counseling psychologist at WSU while doing graduate work in clinical psychology.
Barry Judge has joined KXLY as anchor and managing editor of Newsfour’s 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts. Judge was previously main anchor for Seattle’s KING-TV. He was once an anchor for CNN and has worked at stations in West Palm Beach, Dallas, Indianapolis, Milwaukee and Pittsburgh.
Stephan Kaufman joins NewsTalk 920 as nightside radio news editor. Kaufman, a 25-year veteran of radio broadcasting, was formerly KGA-AM morning drive news director. He spent eight years at KNIX-FM/KCWW-AM in Phoenix.
Ann Bray has joined Century 21 Tibbitts in Cheney as an associate. Rob Davilla has joined Century 21 Premier Service, 6029 N. Division, as an associate. Both agents completed a five-day Century 21 training program.
Dr. Bryan Correll has joined the family dental practice of Dr. E.G. Torrison. Correll is a graduate of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry and has most recently been in private practice.
Moving Up:
Raymond F. Clary has become a principal in the law firm of Etter, McMahon & Lamberson. Clary has been with the firm since 1989. An earlier item in this column incorrectly indicated he had just joined Etter, McMahon & Lamberson.
John Paine has been promoted to associate broker for Crowley Realty Better Homes and Gardens. Paine, who also was named top overall production agent of the year, has been in the real estate business for five years and recently earned his associate broker designation.
Bank & Office Interiors has promoted Becky DeVries to vice president of sales, Eastern Washington. DeVries has been with the company for more than eight years and recently served as the Spokane branch manager.
Joe Madsen has been named director of safety and risk management for Spokane Public Schools. Madsen’s responsibilities will include management of district security services, safety, and transportation services. He joined the district in 1993 as safety officer from Washington State University.
Starting Up:
Jerry Quinn has teamed up with partners Dick Sperling and J.J. Quinn to form Quinn Sperling Advertising & Marketing. Sperling has 20 years of advertising experience, and operated his own agency in Boise. J.J. Quinn, who holds a degree in marketing from Eastern Washington University, previously was an account representative at Riso Products of Spokane. Jerry Quinn, formerly president of Quinn Lipe Advertising, was elected CEO of Quinn Sperling.
Washington Casualty Co., a subsidiary of Northwest Healthcare Insurance Services, has opened a branch office in Spokane. David Cherry has been named regional marketing director. Other staff include: Dennis Higgins, regional claims supervisor; Bruce Kirkland, regional risk management administrator; and Kathy Sharley, office manager.
The Body Shop an international manufacturer and retailer of naturally based skin and hair care products, has opened a store at NorthTown Mall. The store, which has eight employees, is managed by Carl Flom.
Gymboree, a retailer of fashionable and functional attire for children seven and under, has opened a store at NorthTown Mall. Corrine Burger will manage the store, which has 12 employees.

The Havermale Career Based Learning Project has recognized the following business as Outstanding Employer-Participant Sites: ALSC Architects, Dorian Photography Studio, Metropolitan Mortgage, Quality Florist, and Veterinary Referral Service. The Employer-Participant Site of the Year was awarded to the City of Cheney for its dedication and assistance with the project, a federally funded school-to-work transition program.
Dishman Dodge has been selected for membership in the Mopar Masters Club. Membership in the club is extended to the top 100 Chrysler Corp. dealers across the country based on fulfillment of Parts Department Objectives. Dishman Dodge has also won one of the top awards nationally for having the highest score in their zone for the “Prep It Right” program. The award is based on the condition of new cars upon delivery to the customer.
